Financial Aid Benefits
Financial Aid BenefitsACP Fee Remission for Students Eligible for Free or Reduced LunchEffective with the Fall 2006 term, the Advance College Project will offer fee remission (i.e., there will be no charge) to qualified ACP students who meet the eligibility requirements of the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). Students will use a new form, the ACP Tuition Waiver Application, to request this benefit. Students may choose to mail the ACP Tuition Waiver Application directly to the ACP office at IU Bloomington to ensure confidentiality (or may turn it in with the student enrollment application at the school, if they prefer). The Bloomington ACP Office will then verify each student's status with the financial office at the local school corporation. In summary, eligible students must complete both of the following.
Students who meet ACP admission standards and who are eligible for free or reduced lunch through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) will not be charged a tuition fee for their ACP course(s). Students eligible for free or reduced lunch in August will receive the fee remission for Fall term course(s). Students eligible for free or reduced lunch in December will receive the fee remission for Spring term course(s). Students must submit an ACP Tuition Waiver Application and a Student Application for each term in which they intend to take ACP course(s). IU Faculty/Staff Dependent Fee CourtesyFee courtesy (a reduction of 50% of the tuition) is available for each Advance College Project (ACP) student who has a parent employed full-time by any Indiana University (IU) campus. To receive fee courtesy, the parent employee must obtain the IU Fee Courtesy Plan Enrollment Form available online at http://www.indiana.edu/~uhrs/pubs/forms/fee04-05.pdf. Fill out the form and attach to the application along with a copy of the student's birth certificate. On the fee courtesy application is a line labeled "Campus Student Will Attend." Fill that out with the name of the IU campus through which the student will be registered: Bloomington, East, Kokomo, Northwest, South Bend, or Southeast. Use the View by Corresponding High School list on the Participating High Schools page to determine your high school's corresponding IU campus. An application must be on file for each term a student expects to be enrolled. Students applying for fee courtesy at the beginning of the fall term, who anticipate taking ACP courses in the spring term, should indicate that by checking both terms on the fee courtesy application. Otherwise, a second fee courtesy application will have to be filled out for second term. If the parent employee has completed fee courtesy paperwork by March 1 preceding the school year a student will be taking ACP courses, the student will be billed for one-half of the ACP tuition. If a student qualifies for fee courtesy but has not filed the form by that date, the university policy is to bill for the full amount. A refund check for one-half of the tuition will be mailed to the student's home when the fee courtesy application is processed. Questions about fee courtesy are to be directed to the respective ACP campus contacts:
Benefit for Children of Disabled VeteransThe Indiana General Assembly has provided an educational benefit for children of veterans disabled in the line of duty during wartime. The benefit pays all tuition up to 124 credit hours for eligible students enrolled at state postsecondary institutions. The Indiana General Assembly has also provided a free tuition benefit for children of veterans in Vietnam classified as POW/MIA after January 1, 1960. The Indiana Department of Veterans' Affairs provides information about these benefits at http://www.in.gov/veteran/sso/brochure/remission.html. The completed and verified Application for Remission of Fees for a Child of Disabled Indiana Veteran or a POW/MIA form must be submitted to Indiana University no later than September 30 of each year. In addition, applicants must also file the appropriate academic year's Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), preferably by Indiana's March 10 (of the previous year) filing deadline. Applicants can file the FAFSA online at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ . Students who qualify for either benefit should call for details:

"My ACP English class is very beneficial. It really gets me ready for my college career and it exempts me from having to take an English course my freshman year."
