Withdrawl from an ACP Class

Withdrawing from an Advance College Project (ACP) course is rare. Withdrawals are never approved due to a student's low or failing performance in an ACP course. To withdraw from an ACP course, the student must have an emergency and/or medical situation, something beyond the student's control, in order to be granted withdrawal. Generally under emergency and/or medical circumstances, a student is withdrawing from all high school semester courses and not just the ACP course(s). This would include any student who is moving away and changing residence and who is no longer enrolled in this high school.

If a student must withdraw from an ACP class, the student, parent/guardian, and school officials will need to make sure they withdraw from the college credit portion of the course by following ACP policy:

  1. If withdrawal is inevitable, the parent/guardian submits official documentation substantiating the emergency and/or medical situation to the high school counselor, ACP coordinator, and the ACP teacher requesting a withdrawal.
  2. If the action of the counselor, ACP coordinator, and ACP teacher is to grant the request, then the ACP teacher submits copies of the parent's/guardian's official documentation and a cover letter informing the ACP office of the decision to grant the student's withdrawal from their ACP course(s) and all other courses for that semester.
  3. The ACP teacher, high school counselor, or principal with the teacher's approval submits information in writing to:

    Advance College Project
    Attn: Student Withdrawal
    Maxwell Hall, Room 122
    750 E. Kirkwood Avenue
    Bloomington, IN 47405

  4. When staff in the ACP office receive the appropriate documentation and information, they will initiate action to withdraw the student from the college course.
  5. The ACP office will notify the ACP teacher that the withdrawal request information has been forwarded to Indiana University's Office of the Registrar. Copies will be forwarded to the appropriate regional campus ACP coordinator.
